Why Use a Back Plate?

When a harness eyebolt is mounted through a floor panel or chassis section, the load in an accident is concentrated at the eyebolt hole. Without a back plate, this load can cause the eyebolt to pull through the panel, compromising the harness anchor point entirely. A back plate spreads this load across a 65mm x 65mm area, significantly increasing the strength and integrity of the mounting point. Many motorsport regulations, including FIA requirements, mandate the use of a back plate with harness eyebolts.
